Playground Project

A new playground for Granby

The hard work of the Parish Plan group and the Parish Council has been rewarded with our magnificent new playground at Granby Village Hall.

The reaction of local children and parents has been very positive. The playground includes challenging equipment for different age groups and is already being used much more than previously.

The design for the playground was based on consultation with local people and three playground companies were then asked to draw up specifications based on these ideas. The application for funding proved to be a long drawn-out process with endless meetings, form filling and waiting.

Our thanks go to the generous joint support of Nottinghamshire County Council through their Local Improvement Scheme and Rushcliffe Borough Council Community Partnership Scheme. This support is particularly welcome in these difficult times of financial cutbacks.

For toddlers there are swings, a sand area with slide and a climbing feature. For older children there are various climbing and balancing features incorporated into an obstacle course. There is also a nest swing that several children or toddlers can use at the same time. The improvements include improved seating and fence repairs. In Spring 2012 we will try and resolve the problem of flooding in the football area including reseeding of the grass.
