Summer event 2013
Saturday 6th July was a glorious sunny evening and over 200 people gathered at the Paddock for this year’s summer event. Entertainment was provided by ‘The Business” a Newark band that played favourite hits from the 60′s through to the present day and by Steve’s disco sounds. The BBQ was as popular as ever and sold out of everything edible. The children bounced the evening away on the Bouncy Castle and Loz and Su’s licensed bar supplied excellent ales and refreshments.Looking forward to next year’s event already.
Thanks to all those who helped in any way to make the evening a great success.

Following their efforts at the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee the Events Committee went into hibernation to recover from their stalwart efforts. The celebrations in April were very ambitious in design but thanks to efficient planning and everyone pulling together the weekend was very successful. Events included the Ceilidh in the Paddock, Royal Scarecrows, Open Gardens, Songs of Praise, opening of the village sign, village photographs, street parties, mini proms, and bonfire and fireworks.
The committee is grateful to all the residents who helped in any way over the weekend (Too many to mention individually here). Currently we are planning a summer event for July 6th in the Paddock off Sutton Lane. There will be a band ‘the Business’ from Newark who play favourites from the 60’s to the present. We are having a BBQ. Loz & Su’s bar, children’s entertainment. There is talk of a rounders match too. Tickets will go on sale very soon. Posters and flyers will go out in a week or so. The PC has kindly purchased a marquee that will provide greater cover in case of bad weather.
We are always looking for more volunteers. We will need help on 6th and 7th July with preparation and clearing up of the site, also with BBQ
The Events Committee’s financial position remains reasonably healthy despite losing money through subsidising the DJ celebrations last year.
