Village Events Group

The village events committee consists of a small group of volunteers who plan fun events for the local community. We are always looking for new members and if you would like to get involved contact:  Andy Betts andybetts629@btinternet.com .

Recent events include: St George’s night fish and chips supper and quiz; summer barbecue with live band; annual scarecrow competition; the summer solstice event.

We are currently planning for the Diamond Jubilee weekend and our next meeting will take place in the village hall on March 7th. See below for details:

Saturday 12th May: Decorating and bunting workshop 10.00am in the village hall. all welcome

Saturday 2nd June: Ceilidh and bar with Govannen at the Paddocks, Sutton Lane, Granby, 7.30 till 12.00

Sunday 3rd June: Open Gardens in the afternoon; bell ringing and Songs of Praise service at All Saints church in the evening

Monday 4th June: Street parties, Teddy Bear’s picnic, balloon race, treasure hunt, fancy dress (best crown), cake; hay ride around the villages; Grand opening of the new village sign; village residents photo; mini proms, 8.30-9.30 in the village hall; bonfire and fireworks (fire to be lit at 10.30pm

2nd June to 9th June: Royal scarecrow compettition. Design and display a scarecrow with a royalty theme (past or present) in your front garden – prizes for the best.
