Golf society

Granby and Sutton golf society was formed in November 2011 and held its inaugral meeting in the Marquis of Granby. It is a local club for people with an interest in playing golf. It was decided that we would play at least six times a year at various courses in the area. Over the past year we have played at the Nottinghamshire (Cotgrave), Belton Park, Melton Mowbray, Newark, Stoke Rochford, Ruddington, Oakmere and Rufford Park.

Our AGM was held at the Marquis on Wednesday 14th November 2012.

The current committee members will stay on for another year – Martyn Wakeman – Chairman, Amanda Grattan – Secretary & Lesley Galbraith – Treasurer

For future fixtures we will utilise the clubs that members already play at - The Nottinghamshire, Newark, Melton Mowbray, Belton Park, Belton Woods & Rushcliffe.  The idea would be that throughout the spring and summer months members would organise a game at their own clubs and invite other Granby & Sutton members as guests.  We plan to try and organise one fixture per month.  The society are also looking at organising days out to courses further afield that the club would like to play at.

Preferred days of play was discussed and Fridays have always attracted the most players so we will look at organising future fixtures on Fridays.
