A cardiac defibrillator has been installed at Granby village hall. It is located on the sidewall adjacent to the external kitchen door. It is fully functioning and designed so that it can be used by members of the public. The equipment is contained in a yellow metal box which has a combination lock. If required, you must telephone 999 and you will be given the combination to unlock the defibrillator. The pack contains a voice commentary that talks you through each step of the process. These devices do save lives particularly in rural locations where ambulance response times are longer.

Granby has won the 2012 Best Kept Village competition for the category of populations under 300 in Nottinghamshire. This is wonderful news and reflects the hard work of all residents in keeping the village looking at its best. This year the judging coincided with the Diamond Jubilee celebrations and the extensive decorations and the new sign and bench helped the village to look its best. A packed programme of events brought out the crowds over the holiday weekend. Starting with a lively Ceilidh on Saturday evening in the Paddock with the band Govannen. The rain held off until near the end and most people had a go at the various dances.
On Sunday Granby and Sutton opened a number of gardens to the public and there was a special DJ service in the church in the evening. This was followed on Monday with street parties, village sign opening, Mini Proms and a superb firework display.

Imagination and creativity were apparent in the display of royal scarecrows in both villages in the week leading up to the Diamond Jubilee celebrations. Competition was fierce and the judges had a difficult task. They eventually selected Queen Victoria of Sutton as the winner (John and Isabel Daw) with Queen Elisabeth 1st (Elaine and Jim Walsh) and Prince Charles (Philip and Brenda Straw) runners up in Granby.

Granby and Sutton parish is mid way between Nottingham and Grantham two miles south of Bingham and the A52 trunk road. The villages of Granby and Sutton are one mile apart in the flat Vale of Belvoir . The land was once part of the estate of the Duke of Rutland who still resides at Belvoir Castle, close by.
